On the seafront in Malia, this large club is part of the resort’s concentrated late-night strip and operates mainly during the summer season.
- The Bitters Bar
In Heraklion’s old town, The Bitters focuses on cocktails, including drinks made with local spirits and ingredients; its compact setting suits a quieter evening than the island’s resort clubs.

Nature & Outdoors
- Elafonissi Beach
On Crete’s southwestern coast, Elafonissi has shallow turquoise lagoons and pale sand with pink tones from crushed shells. The protected Natura 2000 setting means visitors should avoid taking sand or disturbing dunes.
- Balos Lagoon
This remote lagoon on the Gramvousa peninsula is prized for clear, shallow water and a broad view across the lagoon from the approach above. Access is by boat from Kissamos or via a rough road followed by a walk.
- Falassarna Beach
Falassarna, on Crete’s west coast, has a long open sandy shore and sunset views over the sea. Its exposed position can bring waves and wind, unlike the more sheltered lagoons.
- Vai Beach
Vai is backed by Europe’s largest natural palm forest, a rare stand of Cretan date palms beside a sandy bay on the island’s east coast.
- Richtra Waterfall
Near Myrtos in southeastern Crete, Richtra flows most reliably in spring after winter rain; by high summer it may be greatly reduced or dry. A short walk from the village reaches the waterfall and its shaded stream valley.
- Mount Ida (Psiloritis)
Crete’s highest mountain rises to 2,456 m, with a summit route from the Nida Plateau that crosses exposed, rocky terrain. The Ideon Andron cave on the plateau is traditionally linked with the birth of Zeus.
- Lefka Ori (White Mountains)
The rugged range behind Chania includes high peaks, remote plateaus and the Samaria Gorge, with demanding routes that require preparation and suitable conditions. Its highest summit, Pachnes, reaches 2,453 m.
- Dikti Mountains
The Dikti range in eastern Crete surrounds the Lasithi Plateau and includes the Dikteon Cave, a major mythological and archaeological site near Psychro.
Active & Fun
- Heraklion Municipal Sports Centre (D.A.K. Heraklion)
The municipal sports complex in Heraklion includes indoor athletic facilities and courts used for organized sport; access and public-use hours depend on the facility schedule.
